  • - 2 swordfish steaks 1–1.5 inches thick
  • - 2 tbsp olive oil cold-pressed recommended, divided
  • - 2 cloves garlic minced
  • - 1 tsp kosher salt
  • - 1/2 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
  • - 1 tbsp lemon juice optional
  • - Lemon zest for garnish

Equipment

  • 1 Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C).
  2. Pat swordfish steaks dry with paper towels.
  3. Rub both sides with 1 tbsp olive oil, kosher salt, and black pepper.
  4. Add minced garlic evenly over the surface.
  5. Place steaks in a lightly oiled oven-safe dish in a single layer.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, depending on thickness, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).
  7. Optional: drizzle with lemon juice after baking.
  8. Let the fish rest for 3–4 minutes before serving. Garnish with lemon zest.

Notes

- Searing option: for extra flavor, sear the steaks 2–3 minutes per side in a hot skillet before baking.
- Pair with roasted vegetables, couscous, or a light citrus salad.
- Avoid overcooking to keep the texture moist and flaky.
